ABOUT

For two decades, across New York, Sydney and London, Mary Talato has built brands where design meets strategy,
art direction and culture.

From brand strategy to brand worlds that live across every channel, her work spans British Airways,
The Ordinary, Four Seasons, Maison Margiela, Tiffany & Co. and Disney, alongside Art Direction working with Mario Testino and Peter Lindbergh.

A rare mix of highly creative mind and commercial instinct, she stays close to the work and is always tuned to culture. Motherhood, she says, has taught her to stay curious, and not to sweat the small stuff.

‘The Magnificent Golden Egg-Laying Thingamabob’

A public art piece that turned an upright piano into a whimsical Rube Goldberg-style machine of brass cogs, pulleys, a bicycle wheel, a birdcage and golden eggs. Passers-by were invited to sit, play and enjoy, with a storybook poem that promised a golden egg could bring a smile to anyone feeling down.

The Ordinary ‘The Periodic Fable’This project captures how we've been conditioned as a consumer to believe skincare myths & invites us all to finally wake up to see the truth behind the beauty industry's jargon.

Agency: Uncommon Creative Studio / Role: Design Director
Awards: D&AD Black Pencil · Cannes Lions Health & Wellness Grand Prix, 2026

British Airways ‘Reflections’
A wordless out-of-home campaign that captures the wonder of flight through the cabin window, from Heathrow to the Bahamas and the Atlas Mountains, with British Airways' logo appearing only as a subtle reflection on the engine.

Agency: Uncommon Creative Studio / Role: Design Director
Awards: The One Show Best of Discipline
Cannes Lions, 2026

The Ordinary ‘Markup Marché’
A fake grocery store that lays bare the beauty industry's markups, selling everyday essentials dressed up as luxury wellness: a banana renamed the "All-Natural Magical Energy-Boosting Bar" and priced at $175.90. Staged in six cities including London, Toronto, São Paulo and Melbourne, it asks why we accept in beauty what we never would at the grocery store.

Agency: Uncommon Creative Studio / Role: Design Director
